Daniel M. Pond: the extraordinary story of an orphaned boy and Vietnam veteran who became one of the world's top taekwondo champions in the 1970s and founded POND SECURITY SERVICE in 1983.
The history and philosophy of POND SECURITY SERVICE are shaped by the extraordinary story of its founder, Daniel M. Pond: Born in Korea, he lost his father and mother in the Korean War just a few years after his birth. A young GI brought the orphaned boy to the U.S., where he was adopted by the soldier's family. As a teenager, he learned the martial art of Taekwondo, enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1966, and served in the Vietnam War and other conflicts. After completing his service in 1973, Daniel M. Pond received an award as one of the 30 best Taekwondo masters in the world and opened a martial arts studio in Erlensee, Hesse. His life experience, military training and martial arts experience formed the basis for the founding of POND SECURITY SERVICE in 1983.

An impressive story.
The Korean War, military service and world-class success in Taekwondo characterize the first decades of the life of the founder of POND SECURITY SERVICE.
During the Korean War (1950-1953), little Daniel M. Pond loses his parents. An American GI takes the orphaned boy into his care and eventually brings him to the U.S., where his family adopts him. In 1966, Daniel M. Pond enlisted in the U.S. Army. After his military training, he served in the Vietnam War and was stationed in Germany. After completing his service in the U.S. Army, the Taekwondo fighter, who was already successful at a young age, opened a studio for Asian martial arts in Erlensee, Hesse, in 1973. In that year, Daniel M. Pond was recognized as one of the 30 best taekwondo fighters in the world and won the title of Vice World Champion.

Daniel M. Pond's passion for Taekwondo has given rise to the guiding principles of safety, structure and discipline that make POND SECURITY SERVICE so successful today.
Daniel M. Pond, founder of POND SECURITY SERVICE, developed his passion for security, structure and discipline at an early age. As a teenager, he learned the martial art of Taekwondo, earning a third-degree black belt at an early age. In 1973, after completing his military service in the US Army, he opened the martial arts studio for Asian martial arts "Pon Do Kwan" in Erlensee, Hesse. This was the first time Daniel M. Pond turned his passion into a profession and became a successful entrepreneur. In 1978 he received his tenth degree black belt. Another five years later, in 1983, Daniel M. Pond laid the foundation for POND SECURITY SERVICE, which now operates throughout Germany.

In 1983, Daniel M. Pond receives the official authorization to provide security services in Germany and founds POND SECURITY SERVICE. Together with an initial twelve employees, the starting signal is given for an unprecedented success story that today makes the company one of the leading security experts for military facilities and highly sensitive installations - including nuclear power plants, research centers, industrial complexes, interim nuclear waste storage facilities, consulates, embassies and other government facilities. Daniel M. Pond's knowledge and experience in martial arts, his military training and the resulting expertise in all security matters form the solid foundation of the company's development.

LBA-certified explosives detection dog teams.
Explosives detection dog teams certified by the German Federal Office of Civil Aeronautics strengthen POND SECURITY SERVICE in the area of air cargo security.
POND SECURITY SERVICE now also has two explosives detection dog teams that are trained to detect all common commercial and military explosives, home labs, weapons and ammunition, as well as explosives that are unsafe to handle, such as TATP or HMTD. They are certified and approved by the German Federal Office of Aviation. This means that air cargo shippers, freight forwarders, airlines and express air cargo companies can now flexibly and quickly have their bulky cargo screened by explosives detection dogs.
