This year marks the ninth time the BDSW Employee Award has been presented. It honors security personnel who go above and beyond the call of duty, whether in facility security, on patrol, or working at events. The award recipients represent all employees in the industry who perform their duties every day—often unseen, but always indispensable.

The incident of June 6, 2025
On June 6, 2025, a medical emergency was reported during a shift change at a site managed by Pond Security in the Miesau area. A person was found inside a vehicle in critical condition, showing no signs of life. Several bystanders were already on the scene, but the situation was chaotic and the pressure was immense.
Matthias Köhling immediately took charge of coordinating the response. He organized the necessary steps, assigned tasks, and made sure no valuable time was wasted. Together with a colleague, he performed chest compressions and rescue breathing until emergency medical services arrived. The victim was successfully resuscitated.
What sets this mission apart is not just the physical effort involved. It is the ability to keep a cool head in a moment of extreme tension, to guide others, and to take action oneself at the same time. That is exactly what Matthias Köhling did.
